The Ashley Rodeo The very first Ashley Rodeo kicked off in 2005 and was sanctioned by the National Professional Rodeo Association. But when the NPRA stopped sanctioning rodeos in 2007 and began to focus on bull riding instead, the rodeo committee had to come up with another sanctioning body for the 2007 rodeo. They decided to upgrade to the daddy of them all: The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Assocation. Last year's rodeo was filled with cowboys and cowgirls utilizing their talents and skills. The rodeo announcer entertained the crowd throughout the night with jokes and shenanigans, with the help of the rodeo clown. As usual, the stands were packed with fans. If you want to get a seat at all, you had better be there at least a half-hour before grand entry. The rodeo is a great time of year for the community of Ashley and its surrounding neighbors. With a street dance, showdeo fun day, and a fundraising raffle, there is a good time to be had by all and not just at the rodeo. Next year's 5th annual rodeo dates are set fo August 8th and 9th, 2009 at the Ashley rodeo grounds northeast of town. |
